When a custom web application makes sense
Do customers need to track an order, employees process requests or partners manage listings? A web application connects screens to your data and business rules. Users open it in a browser without installing software.
I first compare your requirements with existing tools. Custom development is useful when you need a specific workflow, integration or room to grow beyond the limits of your current solution.
A company website may be enough for presenting your business. If you need phone features, we can also discuss a mobile app.
From the main task to the first release
We identify the users, information they need and task they must complete. This informs the screens, data model and access permissions.
- Customer portals for requests, documents and order status.
- Administration tools for content, listings, users and permissions.
- Internal systems for records, approvals and reporting.
- Booking and enquiry applications with a custom workflow.
The first release covers the main task from start to finish. We prioritize further features based on their value and user feedback.
What the delivery includes
Before development I define the agreed features, dependencies and acceptance checks. You see working parts during development and can comment on their behaviour.
Before launch I check key user flows, permissions and invalid input handling. I prepare deployment and hand over the agreed materials. Ongoing support is scoped separately.
The Zhotoveno.cz case study shows a connected web and mobile product.
Security and maintainable operations
I address security during design: who can read and change each type of data, how users authenticate and how credentials are managed. Before launch I verify the agreed permissions and invalid input handling.
For long-term operation, I plan updates, backups, restore checks and error monitoring. I consider running costs, clear documentation and the ability to extend the solution or hand it to another maintainer. We agree support scope and responsibilities upfront.
What affects development and running costs
The budget depends on user roles, workflows, data quality and integrations. Migrating old records or connecting an undocumented system can represent a significant part of the work.
Alongside development, we estimate hosting, databases, external services and maintenance. For an initial proposal, describe the current process, target users, essential features and any deadline.
